Peter Pan
The Darling children live a charmed and happy life in Kensington with their mother and father, and their beloved dog, Nana. Their adventures live only in imagination until one night their nursery is visited by Peter Pan. With the aid of his fairy Tinker Bell, he teaches them to fly and leads them to his fantastical home of Neverland. There the Darlings find a strange and magical place, inhabited by mermaids, Indians, the Lost Boys, and a pirate crew led by the villainous Captain Hook. Their journey leads through many perils and adventures, but poses a great question for the Darling children. Peter may be the boy who never grows up, but will his new friends do the same?

Pride and Prejudice
Elizabeth Bennett has a keen mind, a sharp wit, and no desire to marry for convenience. When she meets Mr Darcy, her first impressions are far from favourable, and he shows little interest in her. Nor do their opinions improve with further acquaintance. There seems to be little hope of romance; indeed, it might be impossible unless they can confront the flaws in their own natures. Perhaps their first impressions were mistaken?Profuse with her inimitable wit and charm, Pride and Prejudice is one of Austen’s most beloved novels, and stands among literature’s greatest love stories.

Emma
Emma lives a sheltered existence in Highbury, with a doting father and their lifelong friend Mr Knightley. Having no need of matrimony herself, Emma turns her attention to the romantic prospects of others. Her love for matchmaking at first shows real promise, despite Knightley’s warnings, but it may prove to be more perilous than she anticipates, and risk the one heart she supposed she was keeping safe: her own.

Frankenstein
The young Victor Frankenstein is a gifted and ambitious scholar. Obsessed by the limits of human potential, he conceives a plan to pursue the greatest of all scientific endeavours: to create life itself. But his success is far from the glory he imagined. The creature he creates is as tormented as Frankenstein himself, and soon determines to exact revenge on his maker for the cursed life he bestowed.
Written when Shelley was only eighteen years old, Frankenstein is a profound and prescient exploration of the scientific endeavour. It is a work of singular ambition and imagination, and remains not only a progenitor of horror and science fiction, but also endures as one of the great works of literature itself.

Sense and Sensibility
When the Dashwood family falls upon hard times, they are obliged to leave their home and seek reduced circumstances in Devonshire. The three sisters live alone with their widowed mother. Marianne Dashwood is passionate and impulsive, while her elder sister, Elinor, is pensive and reserved. Jane Eyre
Orphaned as a young child, Jane lives a lonely existence with her aunt and cousins. She attends Lowood School, a harsh and unforgiving school for girls. Her fortunes appear to improve, however, when she is employed as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she works for the elusive Mr Rochester. It seems in Thornfield she might at last have a real home, and finds herself drawn to the enigmatic Rochester. Yet as their acquaintance deepens, she comes to discover that all is not what is seems. Rochester’s past is quite as troubled as his present, and his secrets (however well kept) might still have the power to threaten what happiness Jane has found.

The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book is a collection of stories unfolding deep within the jungles of India. Rich in poetry and prose, Kipling’s stories explore the life of Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves, and the many creatures he comes to know, love and fear.
Though a classic of children’s literature, Kipling’s writing is equally enriching to adults and children alike. It is a beautiful and powerfully imaginative work, rising to the greatness of even authentic folklore, and remains an impressive feat of storytelling after more than a century.

The Confessions
The Confessions of Saint Augustine are among the most profound and seminal works in Christian Theology, as well as being the first autobiography in Western Literature. Pusey's classic translation renders the beauty and antiquity of the text's original latin, and is presented without annotation.

Mansfield Park
As a child, Fanny Price is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in the impressive estate of Mansfield Park. The lower circumstances of birth ensure her family do not treat her as an equal, and she is mistreated by all but her cousin Edmund. When the youthful and urbane Crawfords enter their circle, they complicate these relations still further.
The work of a mature writer, Austen’s Mansfield Park is in a different vein to her other novels. Its heroine is quiet, cautious, but strongly principled; and its themes extend far beyond the romantic overtures for which Austen is often known. It stands deservedly among the great canon of her work.
